The title reminds me how much I cherish reading old school novels. And, this is exactly where my personal style has evolved from – beauty, fashion and even the perfumes I like wearing. I might be the only blogger speaking about floral scents in winter, but hey, I am a floral girl. I can never provide you information that I do not fully follow myself. So here it is, my top fragrance picks for this month. If you are anything like me, you will love them equally.
1. Victoria Secret’s Sheer Love – This is exactly how I would imagine a Victoria Secret’s Angel to smell like. The fragrance is sweet, but unlike many of their perfumes, this is the kind you can pull off at any age. It has a maturity to it (In my humble opinion). The primary notes are white cotton and pink lily, that maintain to linger long-term. Love this fragrance for day and even for a night out. This is also the only re-purchase from my collection ❤
2. Rock & Rose by Valentino – Going on with the floral theme, this one is another long time favourite. I’ve had it for years and if this matters, I’ve received many compliments from the opposite gender after wearing this. The fragrance is aptly named, the touch of rock to a feminine rose scent (very inspired from my victorian reading!) makes this extra special. The fragrance doesn’t lose it’s ‘rosyness’, but is enhanced by gardenia and vanilla as base notes. This is sensuality in a bottle!
3. Valentina by Valentino – Recurring theme yea? I am a big fan of their fragrances. The notes of this one, definitely hit close to home. Bergamot and white truffles combine a distinctive scent, reaching for orange blossom, jasmine and strawberries as central notes. However, this one leaves you scenting spicy with has with cedar, vanilla and amber lingering in the backdrop. By far, this is how much I can expand my comfort zone into spicy scents.
4. Jo Malone English Pear & Freesia / Peony and Blush Suede: The reason these are included together, because they fall in the same fruity/floral category and I am equally torn between the two. I’ve heard bloggers raving about Pomegranate Noir by Jo Malone, but personally, the scent is extremely strong for my liking. Thus I resort to subtle ones, English pear & freesia is a complex fragrance and perhaps that’s why I enjoy wearing it. I usually pair it with the matching body creme and boy, it smells amazing. Also, Jo Malone fragrances is by far the longest lasting of them all. Peony & Blush Suede is a new addition – I tried it at the store and got it instantly, it is also their newest collection. Top note is red apple (Which is again perfect during festivities); middle notes are peony, jasmine, carnation and rose; base note is suede. Again, a very complex fragrance, but it works. Side note: I layer this one as well with my English Pear & Freesia Body Creme and yes, it smells divine.
