It’s no surprise I am a shopaholic. Walking through glossy stores with unattainable mannequin figurines embellished with everything I’d like to own is my favorite relaxation remedy. It’s almost therapeutic to buy something new, make those tiny aspirations of how I would pair the scarf I am looking at, what accessories will complete my favorite outfit or what shoes I need in my collection next!
I confess my purchases are unjustified, I confess I get carried away, but, I also confess that I could care less… Here’s my take on things my peer shopaholics will never get!
“You should check out that sale.” – You know what, I have checked out that sale and I have hated every minute of browsing through scarce pieces and unavailable sizes (which for me is always the case). Living in a city that goes through shopping festival every year, I think I am well-prepared to tackle the best and the worst sales in Dubai. Also, as someone who loves shopping, I kind of get the fuss; but this is not the place to buy the best stuff and more often than not, all the good stuff is never on sale.
“How do you justify a Dhs 200 lipstick?” – Everyone has a guilty pleasure, right? This one is mine. Personally, I’d rather spend less on purses, shoes than makeup. But that’s just me. I know women who can spend any amount on Jimmy Choos, Chanel bags and Dior perfumes, but don’t justify a Tom Ford lipstick. I on the other hand would rather spend on gorgeous packaging that infuses my aesthetic creativity on a whole new level.
“I hate online shopping.” – Okay, with the digital age dawning like there’s no tomorrow, online shopping has gotten pretty big. With all due respect, I love shopping in physical stores, but in the last few years, I have understood the importance of online shopping. The possibility of getting locally unavailable brands, easy availability of plus size clothes and too many options to choose from and the added benefit of all this in the vicinity of my room, fantastic!
