When I watched ViviannaDoesMakeUp and EssieButton do their Burberry look from SS15, I was swooning. These two vloggers are totally up my street with their minimal beauty looks and simplistic, no-fuss beauty attitude. So what’s a girl to do, but re-create their look?
As both these ladies used a full-on Burberry makeup, I recreated it with my existing (and burgeoning) makeup stash. The look is clean and posh and guess what? It has NO-MASCARA *Gasps*! I know what you’re thinking, how? why? I’m never going to be able to pull that off! Well, if I could, so can you. Here’s how to achieve it.
I began with thoroughly moisturizing my face with the handy-dandy Embryolisse. Even though I am oily, I can’t resist a glow. The key in this flawless, fresh face look is the layers (as Vivianna righteously pointed out on her video). Starting with my Nars Hot-Sand Illuminator, I thoroughly blended that on top of the moisturizer to add a subtle glow, If you are a bit drier on the skin, try the Laura Mercier Primer instead. After this, I added a layer of my Dove BB cream (which is fantastic BTW). After which my complexion had sheer coverage and an added glow boost. To top this luminous glow, I added a pea-size amount of my Clarins Extra-Comfort Foundation. Last, but not the least, take a creamy concealer (a shade lighter) I used my Laura Mercier Secret Concealer under my eyes and a tad bit on the tops of my cheek. This was half the battle and if you managed to create a soft base with a luminous glow, we’re in business!
Side note: no brushes needed, blend with the warmth of your fingers, that’s the top runway tip for any makeup aficionado.
If you do tend to get shiny throughout the day, add a light dusting of transcluscent powder now. Or else, let’s get on with the rest of the face. Using my well-loved Marc Jacobs Bronzer in O!Mega, I swirled a good amount under my cheek-bones, ensuring it is blended seamlessly. Using this same bronzer, I pushed some color onto my eyes, blending up to the crease. For the eyebrows, since I already have thick brows, I kept them simple with a light dusting of a brown shade and moved over to the lip.
One rule to do this lip, no lip-pencil needed! It’s all about the smudge and stain. I used the shade Cruella from Nars to mimic the shade used by Wendy Rowe who did the Burberry SS15 makeup for runway. The original shade is Ruby from the Burberry Line. I prefer satin/matter bold lip finishes, but here’s where you can get creative. This modern way of wearing a bold lip aids in getting creative with purples, pinks, corals and even dark chocolaty tones for your pout. The No-Mascara keeps it clean and posh and almost an unpredictable cohesiveness to this look. From day-to-play, this look really does the job when it comes to being on-trend and wearable.
