After much anticipation in the latter half of 2014 and convincing myself that I was content with the makeup I had, I finally plunged into the luxurious swatches of Charlotte Tilbury. The line is super stunning and expectantly delivers in terms of quality and packaging. These are the products I’ve tried and loved (some not so much) and here’s why.
Charlotte Tilburry Luxury Palette in Fallen Angel:
The palette has four shades, cool champagne, dusty champagne, slightly warm toned brown and matte black. Let me start by saying that when you receive this, you won’t have the heart to use it because of the intricate star engraving. Once you get past this and dig in to swatches and application, the shades are buttery (not as much as the Lorac Pro, but nevertheless smooth). My ultimate suggestion on cracking these is using fingers for application as this ensures that the fine shimmers transfer on the lid and are not just wasted on your brush. They blend beautifully and look ethereal on the lid. I love it for a day look or a slightly smoky, smudgy look! In my tutorial here, I’ve used the dusty champagne all over the lid and the bronze on my outer corners and slightly on the crease. The cool champagne is a wonderful inner corner highlight.
Rock N Kohl Bedroom Black
I’m in two minds about this: Should I let the fact slide that no eye-liner has ever stayed on my eyes without smudging or is it another product letdown based on the staying power of the pencil itself. I’ll never know L When I first put it on (which I have done in this tutorial), it is creamy and blendable. After hours of mixing with my oily T-Zone and crazy Dubai summer, it slips and slides on my lower lash-line. I guess I’ll only unravel the mystery in colder months. When it comes to product pigmentation and texture, it is an absolute win. The kohl sets after a good minute, giving you plenty time to smudge and move it around. The shade of black is the darkest I own and I love that.
Full Fat Lashes Glossy Black
Possibly one of the products I’m most disheartened by. I hoped that this mascara will transform my short and straight lashes by making them curvy and fuller, unfortunately, it wasn’t the case. In fact, the formulation is wetter and does not work until 2 weeks of drying. Now, I can build 10 layers and attain a decent wearable look, but for a mascara that claims to give you fuller, fatter lashes, this does not work for me L
Lip Cheat Pillow Talk + K.I.S.S.I.N.G Lipstick in Confession + Lip Lustre in Lucy In The Sky With Diamonds (or L.S.D)
These three lip products are the BOMBDOTCOM for a sophisticated nude lip. I start with my soft textured Pillow Talk (a dusky pale pink shade) to line my entire lips and correct the edges. This color is only slightly pinkier than my natural lips and never looks too much. The lipstick in confession is very dry in textural application; it almost has a waxy feeling during application but does not feel uncomfortable on the lips. The shade is very nude and natural with neutral tones and I LOVE IT. The lipstick does have tiny golden shimmery particles in it, but they never transfer as glitter on the lip, but only aid in bringing some light to your pout. The lip lustre is the same shade as the lipstick but with oomph of golden shimmery pieces and it is so very stunning! I only add the gloss in the center of my lips and voila! The gloss is non sticky, but slightly on the thicker side, so do not apply more than two layers.
Cheek to Chic Blush in Sex on Fire
A mauvy pink paired with a flushed rosy hue, the cool-tones in this blush are quite appealing to me. This blush has deep pigmentation and looks great on anyone, I’d reckon even deeper skin shades can get away with this one. Even though there’s the whole faff around the swishing and popping because of the odd packaging, I love swirling my brush all over and applying this.
These products do not come in the range, however they are equally luxurious and WORTH BUYING!
Film-star Bronze & Glow
Is there any blogger who hasn’t fallen head over heels in love with this bronzer? Nop, I don’t think so. This duo is perfection. The sculpt shade is not too warm toned and perfect for pigmentation for a healthy glow and definition. The highlight shade is O.M.G. It is shimmery and champagny and gives an instant boost of light to the tops of your cheeks. The formulation is so ‘buttery’ and you barely need to do any blending, which I’m not going to lie, is AMAZING.
Charlotte Tilbury Magic Cream
I was hesitant for AGES, but this cream did not leave my wish-list for long and then… I bought it. The magic cream is a rich moisturizer with and SPF of 15. It has long become an essential in my makeup routine. You can read the list of ingredients here. The cream is thick in consistency and has the most blendable formulation. I’ve been wearing it for almost 2 months daily to soothe my dry patches before makeup and add some life to my dull complexion and I have to report, I only have good things to say. I will add, I’m an oily skin girl and this product does not clog any pores or looks borderline glossy, it only adds a healthy boost of nourishment and glow and who can complain about that?
