If I say I haven’t heard Adele’s Hello on repeat for the last 2 days, I’d be lying.
A self-proclaimed Adele lover for a while now, I’ve adored her sound, her story and her soulfulness. She is an inspiration, flaunting her size matter-of-factly and singing with all that she’s got. I’d highly recommend reading her biography by Marc Shapiro and you’d know why this girl is an absolute idol.
Her new single left me breathless and I honestly believe that her vocals were the centre stage and the cinematography and her striking face was just icing on the cake. Speaking of, I’ve always loved her 60’s wing eyeliner with nude lips, paired with a defined contour. In this video however, her usual wing and big lashes are missing, replaced by something crisper and defined almost natural lashes. Here’s my take:
- NARS Sheer Glow Foundation in Punjab
- MAC Prep n Prime Highlighter Pen in Radiant Rose
- Chanel cream to powder bronzer
- Illamasqua Sculpting Powder Duo
- Laura Mercier Translucent Powder
- Kat Von D Shade & Light Palette
- YSL Couture Variation Palette in Nude
- Kat Von D Eyeliner in Trooper
- Red Cherry Lashes in #43
- Burberry Brow Pencil
- NARS Audacious Mascara
- NARS Hardwired Adriatic Lipstick
- Estee Lauder Pure Color Envy lipstick in Insatiable
I started my base with NARS sheer glow foundation. I used a beauty blender to thin out the coverage. This leaves a demi-matte finish that is so skin-like to match Adele’s porcelain matte base. I then added the highlighter pen under my eye, top of the cheekbones and the centre of my forehead. I blended this out before adding the contour.
For sculpting, I started with my Chanel cream contour and placed it under my cheekbones. After blending, I intensified this placement and blurred the edges with Illamasqua’s Sculpting Shade. It is a neutral toned color that looks like an actual contour and doesn’t warm up the complexion. I then did my brows with my trusty Burberry Brow pencil in charcoal gray.
The eyes were tricky as Adele has 3-4 variations of the same look in the video, where in some places it looks more intense, has a thicker wing or eyeliner on the waterline. I was imitating the one in the beginning of the video with a sleek wing and lashes. Using the Kat Von D shade and light palette, I placed Laetus and Liberatus on my lids. I did this two to three times to ensure the intensity was just right. From the YSL Couture Variation Palette I used shimmery champagne for the inner corners of my eye. To build up my crease I first went in with Samael and then using a more precise crease brush added Sytry, Succubus and Saleos. I kept on going back and forth with the colors to ensure the crease was blended out and had definition.
Lastly, I did a winged eyeliner and added my lashes. I applied the mascara to both top and bottom lashes to tie in my natural lashes with the fake ones.
For the lips I mixed both the lip colors to create a muted beigy pink that registers as barely-there on camera.
I hope you enjoyed the classic look, leave me comments below on what other celebrity-inspired looks I must do?
