Nutella French Toast Recipe

To make a good french toast, you fundamentally need three things; Eggs, Milk & Brioche. But to make an excellent, mind-boggling one, you need the addition of Nutella. Those are just the rules of the universe. This is my easy Nutella French Toast Recipe.

Ingredients:

  • 4 Eggs
  • 1 Cup Milk
  • 2 Tsp. Vanilla Extract
  • 2-3 Tsp. Castor Sugar
  • Nutella
  • Brioche Bread (Sliced)
  • Maple Syrup (Optional)
  • Berries of your choice
  • Fresh whipped cream
  • Butter

Start by adding milk and eggs in a bowl. Whisk them together. Add vanilla and castor sugar, whisk further. Take a slice of brioche bread and add a good smear of Nutella. Take another slice to sandwich with the first one. Soak in the eggs/milk custard for 30 seconds. Heat a pan with a shot of butter. Add the french toast and cook until all sides caramelise.

Now for plating, stack up the french toast with some berries. Add maple syrup and a dollop of fresh whipped cream. Dust with icing sugar and Ta-Da!

Where fashion and food collide… Breakfast at Vogue Cafe

I’m a big fan of fashion. Although being plus size has limited my options and I’m conceited as much as I want to be bold, I do take pleasures in admiring everything stylish! I’m happy to announce that; Vogue Café was like love at first sight (more like love at first hot chocolate, but you get the point).

The café is riddled between the world of Prada and Louboutins making it an extra luxurious spot!  Walking in on a Friday morning for brunch, the ambience was peaceful and minimalistic, embellished with vintage magazines and dainty little flowerpots on every table. Lucky for me, my friend was running late, so I did manage to get a few minutes of the latest Vogue Australia enjoying my ambience all by myself.

Then came the menu, and might I say, I was completely blown by that time. The menu is inspired from 1940’s glamour, that took me back to little black dresses, big pearls and feline flicks! So gorgeous and Paris! Speaking of Paris, the menu is very Parisian, with fickle influences from other European cities. Now to the food, I tried an English breakfast and English Breakfast tea and Hot Chocolate. While my friend resorted in trying Vogue Café Garden Salad with Mangolina… Exciting!

The English Breakfast was delicious. I do like a good poached egg, perfectly cooked on the outside and oozy from the inside. This was exactly that. Pairing it with plump fresh cherry tomatoes and kidney beans, the meal was classic and delicious. The turkey bacon was crisp and matched the textures of the rest of the meal exactly. The only let-downs were the mushrooms. They were a little chewy and a bit off to be honest. The Garden Salad was fresh and the ingredients pairings were lovely.

Moving on to the highlight of my brunch, the hot chocolate. This is how I judge my hot chocolate at first glance – if it’s topped with marshmallows, you have my heart! (Yes, I really said that) The hot chocolate was amazing. Did not beat my favourite from Plato’s at Atlantis, but that’s only because Vogue Café does not serve it with flavours.

All in all, I’d rate it 4/5. The only drawback from my experience was the limitation in menu. It was all too easy and lacked an X-factor that distinguished it from other café’s apart from its location. Also, I might just be a fashion freak, but I would love some creativity in menu names. But that’s only a personal choice.
